Natural Resources Canada's (NRCan's) ecoENERGY for Industry and ecoENERGY Retrofit initiatives are designed to improve industrial energy intensity and reduce energy-related industrial greenhouse gases (GHGs) and air pollution. These initiatives are delivered through the long-standing and successful Canadian Industry Program for Energy Conservation (CIPEC) a voluntary partnership between the Government of Canada and industry that brings together industry associations and companies representing more than 98 percent of all industrial energy use in Canada.

A program offered by Nova Scotia Power that helps commercial and industrial customers reduce electrical energy consumption. Offering financial incentives, eligible companies can embark on customized electrical energy savings projects.

Since 1997, over 15,000 representatives of Industrial, Commercial and Institutional organizations from across Canada have enrolled in Dollars to $ense workshops offered by Natural Resources Canada's Office of Energy Efficiency. There are four workshops to choose from; Energy Master Plan, Spot the Energy Savings Opportunities, Energy Monitoring and Energy Efficiency Financing.

This program provides financial incentives for Nova Scotia manufacturing companies with fewer than 500 employees to take a critical look at their business and make changes that mean more efficient operations. The efficiency comes both in savings to the bottom line and in a smaller ecological footprint. It provides added value by improving employee satisfaction and customer appeal. The program is straight forward and easy-to-use. So far, financial savings (ranging from $10k to $2M/year) and a potential elimination of an average of 860 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions/per participating company have been identified.

The ecoEnergy Assessment Incentives program helps industrial companies perform assessments of their operations to optimize their processes, reduce operating costs, become more competitive and reduce greenhouse gases (GHGs) and air pollution B all by using energy more efficiently.

ecoENERGY for Fleets is a program offered by Natural Resources Canada introducing fleets to energy-efficient practices that can reduce fuel consumption and emissions. FleetSmart is a component of this program offering free practical advice on how energy-efficient vehicles and business practices can reduce fleet operating costs, improve productivity and increase your competitiveness. SmartDriver for Highway Trucking is designed to promote energy efficiency as a cost-effective and responsible way to reduce costs and the environmental impact of fleet operations.

Natural Resources Canada's Office of Energy Efficiency (OEE) offers the ecoENERGY Retrofit Incentive for Buildings, the commercial/institutional component of the ecoENERGY Retrofit financial incentives for existing homes, buildings and industrial processes. If you have not yet started a new energy efficiency project, you could receive up to $10 per gigajoule of estimated energy savings, 25 percent of eligible project costs or $50,000 per project.

Natural Resources Canada's (NRCan's) ecoENERGY Retrofit program is designed to help industrial facilities overcome financial barriers to improving the energy efficiency of their operations. NRCan will provide a financial incentive of up to 25 per cent of project costs to a maximum of $50,000 per application and $250,000 per corporate entity to help small and medium sized industrial facilities implement energy-saving projects.

This Program is a Government of Nova Scotia initiative. The program supports the development, demonstration, adoption and commercialization of innovative environmental technologies that target reductions in greenhouse gas and other air pollutants. The ETP will directly invest $9.5 million into projects initiated by Nova Scotia businesses, institutions and organizations until March 31, 2010. These funds come from Nova Scotia's portion of the Canada Trust Fund for Clean Air and Climate Change. Technology made in Nova Scotia can play an important role in reaching the goals of the Environmental Goals and Sustainability Prosperity Act.

Energy Managers Network is industrial-led and results-driven. The goal of the CIPEC EMN is to develop a knowledge-sharing and learning network for industrial energy management practitioners. The EMN comprises professional energy management practitioners from Canadian industrial companies who strive to make their companies more competitive by sharing knowledge, information, tools and skills. In addition to participating in meetings, members gain access to technical guides, case studies and discussion boards. Natural Resources Canada has released a new, comprehensive guide to energy efficiency for industry. The Energy Savings Toolbox provides a step-by-step methodology to help industry identify and capitalize on energy savings. The Toolbox, published on CD and available at no charge, offers a detailed reference for understanding and managing energy use in every phase of an operation, from designing and conducting an energy audit to carrying out cost-benefit analyses. It also includes an extensive technical supplement with spreadsheet tools for costing, analysis and other related calculations.

The RETScreen Clean Energy Project Analysis Software is a unique decision support tool developed with the contribution of numerous experts from government, industry, and academia. It can be used worldwide to evaluate the energy production and savings, costs, emission reductions, financial viability and risk for various types of Renewable-energy and Energy-efficient Technologies (RETs). The software (available in multiple languages) also includes product, project, hydrology and climate databases, a detailed user manual, and a case study based college/university-level training course, including an engineering e-textbook.
